Atollic is the supplier of TrueSTUDIO ® , a professionally-recognized and highly regarded Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for the embedded development community focusing on Arm® Cortex® -M microcontrollers, like ST’s market-leading STM32 family of 32-bit microcontrollers (MCUs).

The announcement of ST’s acquisition of top-3 software-development-tool specialist Atollic, and its promise to make the Atollic high-end TrueSTUDIO-Pro tools available without charge as part of the STM32 ecosystem demonstrates ST’s commitment to continue to deliver the best and most useful embedded portfolio and ecosystem.
Already, ST’s and Atollic’s engineers have begun work on integrating the features offered in the advanced TrueSTUDIO-Pro into the STM32 ecosystem via a fully integrated software solution, under the TrueSTUDIO banner; this software development tool will be available to STM32 developers free, without charge.

Interesante. Falta ver como integran, si es que lo hacen, Cubemx, y si se podrán compartir o importar proyectos con Eclipse.
Que sea gratis ya es una buena noticia, así tendría que ser con todos los fabricantes de micros, los entornos de desarrollo 100% gratuitos.

El mundo va a acabar en manos de unos pocos. demasiadas fusiones/compras.

Si ST se ha quedado Atollic, y el producto soportaba otros fabricantes, yo creo que se los cargará. Aparte de ofrecer un buen producto, es también una manera de restar clientes a la competencia.
Yo con ST estoy muy contento, es de mis preferidos para nuevos desarrollos, su entorno con Eclipse y Cubemx, está muy por encima de lo que he visto con NXP y Atmel. No se que aportará Atollic si se convierte en gratuito, porque migrar sin más, con todo lo que supone volver a empezar, es muy pesado.

Yes. The support for other MCUs will be removed. It will be tough for ST to get access to confidential information from competitors
